Andrea OberheidenI grew up in a tiny little place called Hof-Schönhorst, Germany. I spent my childhood on a farm surrounded by nature, tractors, and plenty of animals. I now live in Kiel, Germany, where I study Recent German Literature and Media Studies, Philosophy, and Art History.
I have been working on a feature documentary about the legendary Jewish American entertainer Al Jolson since 2006. This endeavor has changed a lot in my life, although I only discovered Al Jolson by accident during one of my film classes in Hamburg. On September 18th of 2010, I received an email from the founder of the Vilnius Jewish Library in Lithuania. He kindly asked for a copy of our film "Al Jolson and The Jazz Singer". The copy was delivered to him in person, and a mutual fascination about each other's projects (and more) kept us in contact. |
Wyman BrentI was born in Lynchburg, Virginia in the USA. I was raised in various places in Virginia, North and South Carolina. In 2004, I started to create the Vilnius Jewish Library, the first Jewish public library in Lithuania since the liquidation of the Vilna Ghetto in September of 1943. Besides my work for the Vilnius Jewish Library, I study Communications and Public Relations.
While in Vilnius and doing research on The World's Greatest Entertainer Al Jolson, I discovered the website of http://www.aj-images.com. The first thing which I noticed on the site was an image of a woman wearing a scarf with a rural setting in the background. The rural setting was the Lithuanian village Srednik, the birthplace of Al Jolson. The lady was Andrea. I was intrigued by the work being done to keep Jolson's memory alive. I was even more fascinated by the lady with the scarf. |
Now we are "Princess" and "Bücherwurm", and we are following the same path into a hopefully bright future. We are planning to live in the USA after Andrea's graduation in July of 2013. Help us to start working on our future together!
